Project Title
„Integrated multi-omics approach to accelerate anticancer drug discovery by targeting metabolic reprogramming in human colorectal adenocarcinoma”
Funding
National Science Center, Poland
Location
Department of Biopharmacy, Medical University of Lublin, Poland
Project Description
Principal Investigator
Artur Wnorowski, PhD, DSc
About the Project
This exciting project utilizes cutting-edge biochemical and biological techniques to investigate novel therapeutic approaches for colorectal cancer (CRC). We aim to profile the effects of GPR55 antagonists, both alone and in combination with standard chemotherapies, in CRC and normal colon cells. We will also optimize exosome isolation for metabolome profiling, examine GPR55 inhibition's impact on metabolic pathways, and assess treatment efficacy in a zebrafish xenograft model.
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate with
- MSc degree (or equivalent) in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field;
- Strong background in cancer biology and molecular techniques;
- Experience in cell culture and western blotting is highly desirable;
- Excellent communication and scientific writing skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team;
- Readiness to enroll in the Doctoral School of the Medical University of Lublin or have an active doctoral student status at the project's commencement and throughout its duration.
Desirable skills and experience
- Authorship of research papers in drug discovery or cancer;
- Experience working with Danio rerio (zebrafish).
- Previous participation in research projects.
Research tasks:
Cell culture handling and biological experiments. Biochemistry assay, targeted proteomics, and exosome isolation. Data processing, data treatment, statistical analysis. Contribution to data integration (omics, biological). Development and validation of analytical methods. Search pertinent scientific literature. Report and summarize findings. Prepare results for publication in research journals. Active engagement in the project.
We Offer
- A fully funded PhD position with a competitive stipend (up to 5000 PLN before taxes from the project budget, with the possibility of an additional scholarship from the MUL Doctoral School upon successful application);
- Access to cutting-edge research facilities and mentorship from experienced scientists;
- Opportunities for professional development, including participation in international conferences;
